Knight Talk

Hino catches Runealy after all that's happened. Runealy is still upset, but slowly feeling better. Hinote tries to help and then asks a question he was also asked nearly six months back.

Hinote Kagari has walked the entire castle and he was amazed at everything. He spoke to people who had the time. He learned a few things. He got used to being called 'Sir Hino' by the end of the day and resigned to it. He had someone provide him with a 'mundane' version of his less armored form which some merchant visited the castle capitalized on immediatly beffore anyone else can. Capitalism...ho?

He's obtained a real longsword. He'll probably won't lop his arm off. Probably.

A real longsword was heavier than he imaged. Off. Well. He'd get used to it. He wanted the full experience.

Then- as he was promised, he was told the Princess was done and 'free' for the evening.

Hinote makes his way up the western tower and nods at the Guards. "I am here to see The Princess, may I please?" he asks.

When he's passed. (And he should be by now.). He politely taps on the door. "Runealy. It's me, Hinote. May I enter?" he asks politely.

It had been a busy day for Rune. Busier than some people wanted, but she absolutely wanted to get the 'political' matters dealt with right away. Not that one could call her near-breakdown on the balcony properly politic, so much as a gushing of emotion.

The guards aren't particularly concerned with Hinote's courtesy; 'please' does not convince them. /Who/ is asking the armored pair, polearms resting in hand and propped on the floor, does convince them after a moment's consideration. Yes, the 'off-worlder' who is one of the Princess' sworn friends can get in. They answer him thus: "Yes, but be careful. Try to keep it quiet, please. She finally got to calm down about a half-hour ago, as far as we can hear from this door."

They open the door once Rune calls out simply, "Okay."

Red carpet leads guests along stone floor, several chairs set to the left, a desk on right, glass framing doors leading to a small balcony also to the left... and a gold-framed bed with red and white cloth near the center.

Visibly tired, Runealy lies under the blanket on her bed and is already looking to Hinote. "So... how is it? Is it what you imagined? Did you get what you expected from this world? Bet it's as weird to you as Earth is to us..."
Hinote Kagari 2015-12-07 04:40:12 17788
Hinote Kagari looks around the room and whistles. "Almost perfect to my mind's eye, Runealy." he asks softly. "I walked all over the castle where I was allowed. I met a pushy merchant who provided me with this." he says. "And yes, it is strange- I do not hear a buzz. The air smells very clean. The sky is very blue. I am waiting for it to be night because I want to see what your stars look like, Runealy." he says softly as he grabs one of the chairs to the far corner. He drags it over to the side of the bed and has a seat. He won't sit on Runealy's nice big bed.

"You know. This really puts sleeping into a dirty convience store into prespective." he says softly. He offers a hand out.

"Your world's safe Runealy." he says softly. Yes, he uses the s-word proper.

"The Guards said you'd calmed down finally. This must still be very hard, returning home." he says softly. "I heard the proclamations. You were very brave up there." he says.

"I'm speaking with the historians first thing tommrow morning. Then I'm going out into the city down there."

He closes his eyes. "Heh, I need to have Vale teach me some ettiquite, though." he says.

"I bet that bed feels like the most comfortable thing in the world right now though." he says. "Runealy, do you need me to get you anything?" he asks.
Runealy Waldia 2015-12-07 04:48:52 17789
"I've heard some people guess that maybe Earth can be seen from here. Maybe it can. I have no idea." And ultimately, there are no telescopes powerful enough on this world to be sure. Rune is, like everyone else, guessing about what stars are visible.

"And yeah... about the only way it would have been much worse is if we were sleeping outside, until you turned on the ele--" She realizes the guards outside might be able to overhear, and corrects her sentence to: "Made those adjustments."

A few slow headshakes follow. "I don't know about 'brave', though. Telling everyone just how bad I screwed up, and how everyone should be dead if it wasn't for you and Gao and Valeria and Fate and Tuxedo Kamen and Tadase and Miss White and everyone else is..."

She trails the sentence off into a somewhat unrelated conclusion. "So it looks like you've already gotten me plenty. Just glad that with all the lies I told, this one thing... telling you what world you were going to, wasn't one of those."
Hinote Kagari 2015-12-07 05:02:02 17792
Hinote Kagari hehs. "For all I know, we're in another dimension Runealy." he says with a grin. "--and I'm no astronomer. Maybe Kamen knows. He's smart." he says.

He shakes his head. "No more worries about the lies. There's no more to make. You've done good by me, Runealy. I'm here- and it's amazing. I wish I could show my parents. But it'll have to be my secret. My own lies I have to them." he says with a soft smile as he can muster.

"We'll go back and we'll keep our promise to the people we made them to." he says softly. "That's all we can all do. I made my own mistakes , afterall. You'll remember." he says with a sad sort of smile.

"When we go back, where do you want to live?" he asks softly to Runealy, finally.
Runealy Waldia 2015-12-07 05:07:15 17793
"You have no idea how glad I am to hear that." Rune's eyes show genuine surprise; she half expected Hinote to lash out at her, that this wasn't perfect enough for the work he put in to get here or some other complaint. Not because he has shown any such tendencies... her fretting on this was self-induced.

"And yeah, we're going back soon. I just need some time to rest and think things through. A few days. Where to live, though?"

Her head tilts down in consideration. "I'm not sure. We can't just keep staying in the apartment they gave us, that's not fair. Especially since we've already brought a few people there that might attract enemies. I want somewhere that, whatever we do... the consequences of it are on us, not a dozen other families living on the same floor." That isn't exactly a useful specification that a construction company could go by, but it's the first priority coming to mind for her.
Hinote Kagari 2015-12-07 05:17:21 17796
Hinote Kagari grins. "Not going to lie Princess, a bunch of people calling me 'Sir Hino' all day while walking around a castle that I could had only imagined as a set of a play kinda infalted my ego, I'm pretty sure I count as a flotation device." he sas coyly.

"But... well. It's one of the things you asked me in the past. Right? Well. That's changed." he smiles. "Now you're coming to my world for a bit, so I'm wondering how your home would look like." he says.

"Well..." he taps his chin.

"Maybe we can ask Virtue about it?" he asks. "Don't you get the impression this 'isn't thier first situation' like this?" he asks.

"We have temporary places--- like Inns or Taverns- called Hotels on Earth, so it's not like you'll be homeless if Virtue takes the apartment in the interim. You'll have time." he says.

He pauses. "I'm probably going to be speaking to your father soon in the next few days. I need to talk with Vale first about....well..." he mutters. "Ettiqute." he says. "I haven't offended anyone yet, but I'm sure I won't be allowed to do as I please forever- esp. when the King's concerned." he says.
Runealy Waldia 2015-12-07 05:21:30 17797
"You count as a what?" Runealy is confused at first, but 'gets it' almost as soon as she asks the question and holds up a hand to add: "Oh, right. Well, you go 'float' all you want, okay? And we're going back to your old world, yes." Rune apparently insists on making the distinction. "I guess we can try talking to them, in any case. An inn will be fine if we end up having to go there for a while, but only a little bit. That's no different than an apartment in having people /right/ next to it."

"Going to talk to my dad? Ah, okay... I'd say you've more than got that coming. I won't pry as to what it's about. Not sure how worried he'll be about formalities in this case, though."
Hinote Kagari 2015-12-07 05:32:09 17802
Hinote Kagari smiles. "There's something I want to ask- don't worry. It isn't secret. Really. I'm just wondering how citizenship works. If there's not offical process, I want some assurances I guess. I intend to come back here someday, when you and Gao and Vale are ready to come back for good. I'm assuming you won't be on Earth forever. While Earth is 'my home'. Waldia is also my home. I know that sounds silly- especially since we're not running away here anymore." he grins. "And slamming the door shut on the way back."

"I'm not as silly as to ask for much else." he says with a grin. "Besides, I still need to learn the ropes so one step at a time- and with Vale around, that'll be easy." he pats Runealy's shoulder.

"Are you feeling better at all, Runealy? Do you finally feel safe?..." he asks softly finally. "That's what's been important to me, since I got the idea about... how you Waldians feel about that word." he says softly. "It's why I've been trying to watch my use of it."
Runealy Waldia 2015-12-07 05:40:03 17803
"The official process is you helped save everyone here, so you're one of us and we'll get any sort of 'paperwork' done for that whenever we can," Rune insists immediately. "You're already a citizen in every real way. Dad will probably say the exact same thing, and if there /is/ something formal that needs to get done I'm sure it will get rushed through before we go back to Earth."

A sharp breath follows, but it's mostly to help Rune gather her thoughts. "No, we're not going to be on Earth forever. Though at this rate, when we do come back here 'for good'... I'm sure we'll still visit Earth from time to time. As for me? I... guess I'm half way there. Protected, definitely." A hand pokes out from the blanket to make a sweeping gesture around the area. "Happy? I'm not sure. Working on it. I'm less scared out of my mind right now, and that's something. Just have a lot to sort through in my head right now. I've spent the last half year convinced mom would hate me if she saw any of this. Dad talked me out of that this morning." Her throat tightens, tears successfully being held back for once despite the stress of this topic.

A tiny nod is given to Hinote afterward. "So I'm trying to get there. Don't want to feel awful forever. This is a start." It's joined by the faintest form of a smile. "Thank you for getting me here, to have a chance at that."
Hinote Kagari 2015-12-07 05:48:49 17806
Hinote Kagari smiles. "I read some books and talked to some people about your mother while I was around, and I was shown a portrait." he says softly. "From what I been told, I'm sure she'd had been proud of you doing your best and owning up to your mistakes. From what I understand, and well from the proclamations made, this was an abnormal situation and it was for everyone." he says.

"Vale was right though. People see me as an exotic foreinger. People asking me all sorts of questions. Don't worry. I've been careful." he winks.

"But at the same time I asked if cookies existed here and someone looked at me like I had two heads." he says. "So I'm still learning."

"You'll get there Runealy, I'm sure of it. I'm going to-- let you try to rest and get to sleep now. I'm going to stand on a balcony and go stare at the sky for a bit. Then go to bed. I want to get out into the city at the crack of dawn."

"You sleep well. Alright?" he asks.
Runealy Waldia 2015-12-07 05:55:47 17807
"Yeah... hearing it is one thing. Knowing it is another. /Feeling/ it is another still. Working on that too. I'll get there." Rune decides to let the topic of incorrectly assumed parental expectations go at that.

Instead, she allows the tiniest syllable of a laugh. "Yes, we have cookies. Some of the first food I recognized, or saw things that were close enough in Tokyo, were at the Midori-ya Bakery. And sure... rest is good." The treatments she got on Earth were a big help, but legitimately resting without threats constantly looming in her mind is important and deeply welcomed.

"Use whatever balcony you like. I have a small one out here, or there's the central one we address the public from. Dad has one too, but he... probably wouldn't be fond of you just dropping in on his balcony like that."

She sinks into the covers, and finally just gives a slow nod to Hinote. "You rest too, after you've seen what you can. Everything you see out there is something you earned, and nevermind the mistakes along the way. We fixed them."
