Yuko's hard at work at the supermarket today: Restocking inventory, pushing around shopping carts full of stuff for said restocking and older customers, and even ringing up orders from time to time! It's a busy day like most others, but at least it's not in an unmanageable or chaotic state... Yet.
Thankfully, it's looking like it's going to be a fairly quiet day without any sort of dumpster-exploding shenanigans or Terribads coming in to give her another day's worth of reorganizing. No, the only thing she's working on now is making sure all the for-sale bags of potato chips are organized properly near the entrance of the store. The fact that their sale by date is very close can come up after the sales have been made.
MEANWHILE. BACK IN INFINITY ABOUT HALF AN HOUR AGO.
"Ugh. I'm bored. Are you surrrrrrre you're not detecting anything evil for me to punch." she pleads at Corvus. Corvus sighhhhhhs because Corvus is playing the games console she won and he is legitimaely straight up domination matches. "Nothing, Haruna. Really. Maybe we should just relax today. I mean. It's been a pretty hectic two months." he asides.
"Ugh, I'm hungry. I'm gonna go get snacks."
Then she's off. Corvus blinks. "Did she leave without me!?"
NOW
Corvus flusteredly catches up with Haruna and lands on her shoulder before entering the store. She peeks around. She's never been in this store, and she hasn't known Yuko long enough to make the store and name connection yet.
"Huh....snacks." she says tapping her chin.
Oh! "Hiiiii Yuko!" she says waving.
Hearing that familiar voice from nearby, Yuko blinks a few times before turning around quickly to face Haruna, a bright grin appearing on the girl's face. "Hey, Haruna-chan and Corvus... -chan? Or -kun?" She furrows her brow lightly while setting a fairly hefty bag of rice into place on top of all the others, letting out a relieved grunt before standing up to face them properly.
"How've you two been? Haven't seen you since the... Uh." Seh trails off while recalling that hospital visit, a low hum escaping her after a moment. No need to make things awkward here! Even if it is still a work day with nothing pleasant about it whatsoever.
"... Ehm. S-so! Anything you're looking for in particular today?"
Haruna Kurosawa remembers the visit! It wasn't fun, but she found out Yuko was a Pretty Cure, too! it was kind of exciting to her, even given the dour hospital surrondings. Corvus blinks. "..uh. Whichever one you prefer..." he says quietly.
"Corvus-chan." Haruna insists.
"Oh! Um. Snacks. This place looked like it might have some! Do you work here, Yuko-chan?" she asks, head tilting some with a smile.
"I've never really been in this store before!" she says.
"Corvus-chan." Yuko practically says that in sync with Haruna once Corvus gives them the option to choose. It's only natural, right? Right.
"Snacks? Yeah, we've got a whole lot to choose from. Even got some good sales this week, so... Oh! Never told you, did I?" Yuko giggles lightly and flicks the logo on her work vest, showing off the name of the store on it. "My parents own the place. And they even pay me to work here, unlike a lot of other family businesses."
That's something to be grateful for, at least. "But yeah! If you want, I could show you the stuff on sale this week. Chips, crackers... Oh! Some really good cookies, too..." She pulls over one of those shopping carts loaded with assorted packs of cookies and crackers, then hauls another bag of rice off anothe rcart.
She never did understand why the rice and grains were in the same aisle as the chips.
Haruna Kurosawa blinks blinks. Then she remembers the name of the store from the sign on the outside. OH!.... she sort of blushes. "Ah----! I guess. That should had been obvious." she says shyly. She does peek at the asile and the cart as she looks in. "Ah...that's kind of what I was looking for! I uh. I haven't had time to fill my snack bin in my dorm room." she says sheepishly.
"I also need some drinks that keep well without a cooler or something." she says. She head tilts.
"Um. Do you guys carry birdseed?" she also asks sheepishly.
Corvus crosses his arms. Just because he's a magical talking bird doesn't mean he doesn't enjoy some good ol' birdseed once in a while! Corvus may be a proud independent talking bird.
Giggling again, Yuko hums softly as she glances at the other carts, none of them having any particularly good relaxing drinks in them. Well, unless liquid chicken broth counts.
Yuko is fairly certain chicken broth does not count. "Drinks'll be in the next aisle over. Hmm... We've got some juices in these weird boxes that last years without refrigeration?" She suggests, then peers at Corvus with a mischievous grin. "
As for bird seed... We do have a pet food section, actually! It's geared more towards dogs and cats, but we've got some bird stuff in there, too." She taps a finger to her chin. "Not sure if that ever goes on sale, though... Usually don't have to restock there too often with the other specialty stores around."
And the her attention's on Corvus! "So... Can anyone else hear him? Or is it just us?"
Haruna Kurosawa has been mostly silent since he entered save the inital hello when asked what to call him. But Haruna does answer the question. "Other people can hear him and it is entirely awkward for me to cover that with my horrible ventrolquism act I don't actually do." she says softly.
Corvus gives a series of matter of fact nods.
She looks down. "I'm kinda used to being looked at funny though." she says softly. "Ah...! But. I actually have some friends now!" she beams. "I haven't had many since... well. Aki dissapeared." she admits softly.
She blushes. "Ah! I shouldn't burden you with that." she says softly. "Um. But yeah. People can hear him. They don't find his actions odd though? It's weird." she says as she grabs a cart and begins filling it with snacks.
"Ventriloquism..?" Yuko giggles lightly at the mental image of Haruna pretending to speak through Corvus, especially after actually hearing Corvus speak and knowing what he sounds like. As Haruna looks down, though, the green-haired girl bites her lip before moving over to pat her on the shoulder reassuringly.
"Sorry. Ah... But I'm sure you could get good at if you practiced! and... Actually enjoy it." She offers an apologetic smile, gathering up assorted chips and other snacks in Haruna's cart, eventually leading her to the drinks section. There's no soda in there, but there's plenty of juices and nut-based drinks!
"Maybe they think he's some kind of... Trained parrot-sort of bird? Crows are supposed to be really smart, so..." She raises an eyebrow at Corvus and grins lightly, not finishing that statement just to see what his reaction would be.
Corvus seems scandlized when he is called a /crow/.
"He prefers to be called a Raven." she says softly. "I mean you didn't know that, so it's okay." she beams. Corvus keeps his wings crossed. "I'm not too worried about it really." she says with a smile. "And Miss White calls him pidgeon-kun, but like. I don't think he's about to argue with Miss White." she insists.
She looks down a moment. "Yuko, can I ask you a personal question...?" she asks meekly.
"Why did you choose to become a Pretty Cure?..."
"There's a... Difference?" Yuko stares at Haruna blankly as she says that, eventually turning to Corvus and still looking just as confused as before. Still, that's solid information to know! And possibly forget within a week or two, but still. "W-well, I'll keep that in mind. Sorry, Corvus-chan." There's still a hint of amusement in her voice at that last part.
Raising an eyebrow at Haruna's questions, she nods once and sorts out a few of the larger multi-packs of drinks before responding. "It's... Well, it's a lot of things, really. Wanting to help people, be a hero, do crazy moves without exercising or learning how to do it normally..." She laughs lightly and clears her throat a moment later.
Aside from the odd (yet somehow naturally) green hair, she certainly doesn't have the look of a conventional magical girl: No makeup, no perfect nails, rough hands, and definitely not having the legs for a mini-skirt. "Having to choose between that or getting eaten... And it's the closest I'll ever come to being a video game character outside of a really weird dating sim." Satisfied that she's covered all her bases, she turns to Haruna again with a light laugh. "It's... Probably not all that noble is it, huh?"
Haruna Kurosawa fills her tiny cart more as she walks along. She does not have coupons. But the prices are still pretty good, regardless. She blushes. "I'm not sure, but it's what he prefers and he's my friend, so...!" she giggles. Corvus is used to being talked about like he wasn't even there. He is peeking at the aisles though. Dating sims? Does Yuko play those?....
"Do you like dating sims?" she asks with a blush. "Ah...! Not that. That there's anything wrong with that." she says looking down suddenly. "Aki liked those too!" she insists.
She head tilts and smiles! "Well it's a good as reason as any." she says softly. She looks down. "I just. I wanna save my sister." she says looking down. She does blush though.
"Um. Your shields are really cool though!" she beams. "Like. I'm Wind. And Seagull feathers." she admits sheepishly. "Which seems kinda silly when you're all like.... busting into people with them and I'm just like.... feathers!" she insists with a soft nod.
.. Crap. Did she really just let that out? It's Yuko's turn to blush as Haruna helps her realize that she did, in fact, admit to playing those sorts of games. "W-well, it's just because I like trying out lots of different things! N-no other reason." She doesn't maintain eye contact while saying that, of course, instead focusing on a particularly compelling box of artificially flavored red drink.
At least Haruna's trying to reassure her about it. Between that and the reason given for her own decision in becoming a Pretty Cure, it might not be as surprising when Yuko moves over to give the girl a light hug from the side. Not the front, though, since those rice bags aren't the cleanest things to work with.
"We'll get her back, don't worry. Between us and Katsu-chan and.. Ah. Right! She's another one of us, so I'll have to introduce you two." She grins confidently at that, puffing up just a bit at that ego stroking. "It's cool, right? Ah, but I guess I really am kinda like a super that way. I can take the hits, but I still need strong reals like you and everyone else to do the actual damage. And even feathers can do heavy damage if they hit someone in the eye!"
Haruna Kurosawa blinks. "Katsu-chan?" she asks. She looks down. "Kami-sama gave me some names, but not identities. Um. They were... Boost, Drive, Victory." she says with a soft series of nods. "I won't pry though." she beams. "That's important to some people, like. The identity bit." she says. "I just don't bother because a lot of people saw me anyways." she says softly.
She peeks back up. "Oh! I. uh. I think I overfilled my cart while we were talking." she says sheepishly. She begins to carefully put some back, and then smiles. "Um. I guess I should go ring out! I have a test to study for. And... someone who's actually coming over to help me study!" she beams. "So I should hurry back."
