School is out! Also. It's kinda nighttime. Haruna lives in an Infinity University dome. Her parents live somewhere else in Japan. She's been attending school for a long time now though. But Haruna isn't in her dorm right now, though she can see the exact window where it would be from a taller building in Mitakihara. Also. She's currently Cure Gull and that seafoam green doesn't do a lot to hide her in the dark.
She has a shoulder bird with her, Corvus, that she's speaking.
She holding a picture from a scrapbook and peeking at it, before handing it back to Corvus, who sends it off to his hidey hole--- wherever she keeps her PreCards probably.
"It's quiet tonight. I think Tsukiko was right. Stuff like the other night might be a little uncommon then I think." she says in though as she taps her head.
"Feel anything, anything at all Corvus-Chan!?" she asks hopefully.
"Not really? At least. Nothing dark..." he says. "Not that thing that attacked Ao-Chan at least." says the silver-feathered raven.
"Ugh." she says.
She taps her foot. She seems to be thinking for a moment.
For Sailor Jupiter, it's a patrol night.
Not that the Sailor Senshi really maintain dedicated patrols; Tokyo is big, and there are only four of them. But Makoto at least feels a certain sense of responsibility, especially since she doesn't have any adults at home to question what hours she keeps.
So at a time when most normal students would be at home, Sailor Jupiter is hopping rooftops in Mitakihara, using the vantage of height to scan the city streets below for any signs of trouble afoot.
She's not yet up high enough to spot Cure Gull and Corvus, but she's heading their way, a flash of white springing across the gap between buildings.
Corvus offers a reasonable course of action. "We could always fly around the city and see if anything happens or if I pick up anything...." he offers. Cure Gull ughs. "But that's like ... ugh. There's gotta be a better way." she huffs.
Corvus suddenly spots movement and peeks downwards.
Cure Gull blinks as she peeks down into the same direction.
Right now it's just a white blur.
"Uh. Hi! Down There!" she says as she waves.
Corvus kind of face faults. "Gull we don't even know if it's friendly..."
"It's white! It's friendly!" she insists.
Corvus facewings.
Focused as she is on what's going on below her, Sailor Jupiter might not have seen Cure Gull on her own. The sound of a voice calling out from above makes her pause, however; stopping at the corner of the rooftop that is her latest perch, she looks up, peering through the darkness toward the source of the sound.
The pale seafoam green of the Pretty Cure's clothing stands out against the night sky, and after only a moment's pause, Sailor Jupiter raises a white-gloved hand and waves back.
Stepping back a little from the roof's edge, she spreads her hands, calling the wind. It swirls up around her, cool in the lingering heat of summer, and with only a hint of a wobble she begins to rise toward the top of the taller building where Cure Gull has situated herself.
Cure Gull watches Sailor Jupiter rise up with wind and she watches with wide eyes! Can... can she do that? Now she wants to try that. She looks at Corvus with wide eyes as she begins to reach for her PreBrace's wheel. Corvus gives a dissaproving glare. Gull pouts and stops spinning the wheel.
Instead, she blinks. Oh.. right this is... um...
She doesn't know her name but she knows that she attacked her a few times and that kind of makes her sheepish.
"Oh..um. ah..." she blinks blinks and looks down.
"W..was it Jupiter?" she asks to the arriving figure. "The name...I mean." she says.
Cool though it may look, it takes most of Jupiter's concentration just to make the fairly simple flight up from one building to a higher one, wavering in the updrafts that rise from the streets below. She doesn't so much *land* as she simply drops herself once she's safely over the rooftop.
Then she grins at Cure Gull, lifting her hand for another little wave of acknowledgement. "Right!" she confirms. "Sailor Jupiter. It's good to see you again, Gull-chan; how've you been?"
Cure Gull ahs...! "Right..." she looks down.
"Uh.. sorry. For. All......" she pauses. "Stuff... like. The Scorn stuff.. and... and.... um...."
She trails off.
"Oh! That's right you stopped... that red girl. With the sword when..."
"You didn't hurt yourself too bad right?" she asks guiltly. Corvus is oddly quiet.
"Not at all," comes Jupiter's quick and ready answer; she lifts her other hand to hold them both palms-out, and wiggles her fingers in demonstration. "See? Totally fine now, so don't worry about it. That girl was out of line. I'm just glad I got there in time."
Her eyes flick towards Corvus for a moment, bright with curiosity, but soon enough she's looking back to Cure Gull's face again and her expression softens. "I didn't get a chance to tell you before, but I like the new look. For both of you."
Corvus looks concered at Gull for a moment because she really only gets like this nowadays rarely. She takes a deep breath. "Um. Thanks for being there. That night. If it wasn't for all of you and your friends. I'd.. um." she jsut stops. "Okay I'm done apologizing." she manages to smile a moment.
"Well I'm a Pretty Cure now...." she says. "I wasn't before. So it's different! And. Um. Corvus was. um." she looks down. "he was in a lot of pain too. I couldn't. Just. Let him get sealed in Kami-sama's box or be destroyed.. when everyone worked so hard to help me...." she says silently
Corvus pauses. "I owe Haruna a lot."
She just looks back up again.
"Um. I met Sailor Mars... at her shrine. Corvus said he wanted to go back and apologize about that whole mess. She was really nice!" she beams.
"Corvus is like my fairy companion now! I mean. Like I'm supposed to have one. As a Pretty Cure. But. Kami-Sama just gave Corvus those abilities so it's like the same thing. Since all of Corvus's actual abilities kinda went away when I uh... did that thing." she says.
Listening to what Cure Gull says, Sailor Jupiter nods encouragingly. "Both of you have been through a lot," she says, "but it looks like you'll be okay from now on." Her eyes settle on Corvus again, and she smiles. "As long as you make sure to take care of each other when things get tough. Right?"
Propping a hand idly against her hip, she regards the pair with renewed interes. "I don't know a lot about the Pretty Cures," she admits. "But this means that we're allies now, right? I'll look forward to working with you. None of the others have given you a hard time, have they? I mean, I know none of the Sailor Senshi would, but..."
Cure Gull beams! "That's right!"
She says. She looks down. "Um. There's a lotta Cures. Some aren't even related to one another! Like! I met some in Virtue that are like fighting these fairy tales!?" she says with wide eyes. "Um... the one I am. We protect Earth though from a buncha Jerks called The Phantom Empire." she looks down. "That's who captured my sister..." she says silently.
"But...! I can find her! I know it!" she says with wide eyes.
She looks down. "Actually...." she looks down. "a lotta people came to me and aired out some stuff at me. But that's okay. They didn't try to punch me or hurt Corvus, but. I mean. That's my problem." she murmurs. "I did a buncha bad stuff willingly because I thought I could bring my sister back." she says.
Jupiter's mouth twists in a sympathetic grimace. "Well," she allows reluctantly, "I guess that kind of can't be helped... I was pretty mad at you too, at the time. But the important thing is that you stopped."
She's quiet for a short space, shifting her weight from one foot to the other in a sudden bout of indecision before finally she seems to make up her mind. "The things you did were wrong," Sailor Jupiter says quietly. "But I know what it's like to lose somebody you care about. If things had been different, and somebody had promised me that I could bring them back... I don't know if I can say I wouldn't have done the same thing."
Cure Gull looks up! "Well..most of them apologized, too. It just. It's hard." she says looking down. "I just gotta be careful of. Um. 'Justice'? And some guy in a white coat named Phantom. I was told to stay clear of anything like that." she says.
She listens to Jupiter's words. Then she just steps forward and gives the tall girl a hug. "You handle a lot better than I did.." she says sheepishly. "I kinda died inside and it stayed that way for two years." she says as she looks down. She looks back up.
"Please never let yourself die inside... okay? I..I can talk! I mean. You can talk! At me! And Vent! That's better than that!" she insists.
Jupiter blinks in surprise at the hug, but the surprise only lasts an instant before she relaxes and gently hugs Cure Gull back. "Thanks," she says, voice soft and warm. "It's been a few years now, so I'm okay... but if I need somebody to talk to, I'll keep you in mind for sure. And if anybody from Justice keeps giving you a hard time, you can rely on me, okay?"
A gentle pat to Gull's back, and then Jupiter gently disengages enough to step back and place a hand on the Pretty Cure's shoulder. "More importantly," she says, "I think I've run into that Phantom guy, and you're right. He's definitely bad news."
Cure Gull smiles and head tilts. "I'm just glad you're okay from it." she says softly. She does look down...
"Blue... Kami-Sama... said that the guy is called 'The Precure Hunter'. He hunts Precures and shoves them somewhere. That's all he can tell me... but. He's always usually sad and it doesn't really sound like he's telling me everything either." she looks down.
"I guess things are serious even when someone like Blue is sad sometimes..." she says silently.
"I told Tuxedo Kamen how to contact him. I dunno why he'd wanna do that. I hope that meeting went okay." she says softly. "I owe him a lot too. Kamen.. I mean." she says with a soft blush.
"Tuxedo Kamen asked for that?" Sailor Jupiter's brows lift in surprise, and she takes a moment to consider this information and wonder over what it might mean. "Well... he's a good person, so I'm sure that it's all right."
Cure Gull is not the only one who's blushing; Jupiter glances away momentarily, reaching up to rub unconsciously at the back of her neck. "He's helped me a lot, too."
Cure Gull smiles! "I know!" she says. "I mean. He always showed. When I.. uh. 'Scorn'ed' at you guys. So I figured you guys are connected someway?" she says. She looks down. "I'm told that you guys know the guy who.. took me someplace dark and then I can't remember after that because I woke up on top of Clover Tower and stuff was happening around me." she says.
"Um. That guy who... tried to.. make me join thier thing. At the Ball...."
"Nopherate?..." she says as she head tilts.
The reaction is immediate; Sailor Jupiter's expression darkens even before Cure Gull makes her guess at the name. "Nephrite," she says grimly. "He's a general of the Dark Kingdom - the enemies of the Sailor Senshi."
As she thinks back, her mouth tightens and her face gets even more serious as a connection finally occurs to her. "I think they and the Phantom Empire you mentioned might be working together. When Sailor Moon and I ran into that Phantom guy, he was with one of their youma."
Cure Gull looks down. "Blue said something like that, too. he doesn't really know a lot about this Dark Kingdom. But he knows everything about the Phantom Empire... maybe. Maybe we should be sharing information?" she asks softly. "If they're both working together then!...It's my Problem, too! and.. Blues problems and Cure Boost's Problem and Drive's problem and----!" she huffs and blushes. "Ah---sorry. Just. I mean. You get it. Right?" she asks.
"And I'm easy to find if you have questions. I mean... You know who I really am... right? I'm Haruna...I go to Infinity. I have a dorm there." she says softly. "You can just show up if you want. I won't mind!" she beams.
Most of the tension leaves Sailor Jupiter's face, and she smiles again, nodding. "I get it," she confirms. "And you're right. Our enemies working together is a problem for all of us, so we definitely need to be working together, too."
the other girl's bright smile gets a conspiratorial grin in reply. "Thanks, Haruna-chan." Maybe she shouldn't, but - fair's fair, and anyway what could it hurt? Her voice drops in pitch, a confidential tone that is more or less completely unnecessary given where they are. "My real name is Makoto Kino. I go to Seishou middle school. But keep that a secret, okay?"
Cure Gull pauses. "Oh---y--you didn't need to.. tell me..." she says. "BUT I can keep it a secret!" she beams. "Sailor Mars told me who she was! But I ran into her at the Shrine and she knew who I was immediatly anyways." she says sheepishly.
"I don't have much of a secret to keep anyways. A lotta people saw me like I am normally and then turn into... Scorn or Gull or anything." she says.
"Also Corvus can keep secrets too!" she says. Corvus gives some matter of fact nods. "I don't talk much anyways." he says. "I think I've talked enough for ever and I don't wanna fall into a bad rhyming habit."
"That was the /worse/." says Cure Gull with a bit of frustration. "Always....rhyming and you can't help it because ugh!"
"Well," Jupiter says, thoroughly unconcerned, "it hardly seemed fair not to tell you when I already know who you are and everything. This way it'll be a little easier to stay in touch, right? To be honest," she admits, "I only keep it a secret because if people know who I am, they'll start trying to guess who the other Senshi are, and whether they're right or wrong it'll be trouble. But you're on the same side as us now anyway, so it's not a big deal, is it?"
Then Corvus and Gull both comment on the rhyming and she really can't help but laugh. "It does sound like a pain," she agrees, commiserating. "I'm glad you're not stuck talking like that any more."
Cure Gull beams and smiles. "It..it means a lot that you're trusting me, Jupiter-chan!" she says with a grin. "Ah... when I free Aki...she's gonna be surprised I have so many friends now." she says with a short giggle. "I hope she'll be proud of me when I find her again...." she says softly. "Even if I made a buncha bad decisions..."
Corvus huffs! "She's your sister. I think she'll just be happy to see you regardless!" he insists.
She nods. "You're right." she smiles. She looks over to Jupiter.
"I think I outta go head out though. I'm .. I'm actually trying to find something to fight." she admits sheepishly. "Because if I can beat something strong.... I can collect PreCards!" she says with a smile!
Sailor Jupiter nods emphatic agreement with Corvus's words. "Your sister is sure to be proud of you," she says without any hint of doubt.
When Gull explains what she's doing out here, Jupiter grins and flashes her a thumbs-up. "In that case," she says, "I'd better not keep you. Just be careful, all right? If you run into something that's too much for one person to handle, don't hesitate to call for help."
Cure Gull beams. "I won't! Don't worry!" she beams.
Then the pretty bow on her backside unfurls out into a pair of wings. She presses off the ground and flies off. Stopping to hover a moment.
"Um. Thanks for.. taking the time. To talk to me, Sailor Jupiter. You.. all you Senshi mean a lot to me." she says with a blush. "Take care!" she says before taking back off into the sky leaving a seafoam green trail in her wake.
"Any time!" Jupiter calls back brightly. She'll stand there on the rooftop, waving, until Cure Gull is out of sight amidst the Tokyo skyline.
